Sewing Rags to Stitches: Welcome to the Sewing Rags to Stitches Blog. I am a retired nurse who loves to sew! My sewing career started early, around 10 years old for various 4-H projects. I started creating gathered skirts and in my last (9th) year, my final project was a full-length lined coat. In my 30s I crocheted for my daughter, made an outfit for my son, but time was a premium and sewing was put on the back burner. Now that I am retired and living on a farm with lots of time to fill, I have returned to my roots. It started with throw pillows for my couch. Then I made quilts for my grandsons. A local sewing shop offered various classes, including one on purses. I really enjoyed it and started making custom purses for friends and family. Since then, I've created quilted pot holders, baby carrier covers, bibs, burp cloths, clutch purses, sewing bags, rag quilts, quilted casserole carriers, curtains (for windows & showers) and much more!
